East All-Stars Dish on DeMarcus, Isaiah and More

Throughout All-Star Weekend, Kings.com caught up with NBA All-Stars and basketball analysts to get their impressions of the Kings. Now, find out why so many stars shared rave reviews.

Find out below what the Eastern Conference All-Stars had to say. Then, click here to read more from the Western Conference squad.

Miami Heat forward LeBron James

On his impression of DeMarcus Cousins:

“I love DeMarcus Cousins. He’s an unbelievable talent – a guy who can rebound, can score, can dribble (and) can pass as well. He’s going to continue to get better and better. Sacramento has some good pieces with him and Tyreke (Evans)… They will be all right.”

On the recent play of Isaiah Thomas:

“He has a lot of motivation being the last pick in the Draft, and he’s (shown) that. Ever since he’s been implemented into the starting lineup, he’s done some really good things. I’ve watched him in a few games. I watched him when (the Kings) played in Cleveland, and watched him when they played against us, and he’s been putting up some good numbers. It’s good for him, and I’m happy for him.”

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard

On his impression of Cousins:

“I love him. I think he’s a great young player. I really enjoy watching him play. I think he has the opportunity to be one of the best bigs in the game, and I look forward to playing more games against him.”

On whether Cousins reminds him of any past NBA players:

“He has his own style, but it’s excellent. I would say he has some kind of a game like Chris Webber, a little bit. He can step out and shoot, (and) he can post up. He doesn’t really jump that high, but he’s very effective around the rim.”

Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade

On Sacramento’s talent:

“They have great young talent with Cousins, who’s having a pretty good year. Obviously, with Evans, they have something to build around over there. With signing (Marcus) Thornton – a very prolific scorer as well – they have young talent over there right now. I think Sacramento fans should be excited about the base they have, and now it’s just about them growing together, learning from their mistakes and getting better.”

On the recent play of Thomas:

“He got hot – he had a (great) third quarter against us. He’s a gutsy player. He’s getting better and better, and he’s a real tough player. He looks like he enjoys playing the game.”

Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh

On his impression of Cousins:

“DeMarcus is a talented guy. You can really see the upside in what he brings to the team. I’ve never seen a guy so big be able to put the ball on the floor like he does.”

N.Y. Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony

On his impression of Cousins:

“I like DeMarcus Cousins. I think he has a lot of potential, a lot of upside to him. Hopefully, if he keeps working and keeps working, he can be great in this league one day. I think he’ll get there over time.”

Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose

On his impression of Evans:

“Tyreke is a good player – one of the bigger guards in the League – his size is crazy. He’s athletic, doing a great job of running the team this year, and he should be all right.”

On his impression of Thomas:

“We were in the same (high school) class. He’s been playing great. I’ve been watching him play some, and he’s playing awesome for the Kings.”

Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce

On his impression of Cousins:

“I think he’s a young, talented player and has the opportunity to play one day in the All-Star Game.”

Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo

On his impression of Evans:

“I like his game. He’s a strong point guard, (who) can score in many ways. He has a good hesitation (dribble), and he’s pretty hard to stop on the fast break.”

On the recent play of Thomas:

“I saw Isaiah Thomas in the Miami game – he lit it up in the third quarter. He’s a guy who never quits, and he’s worked hard. A lot of people doubted him. I think he’s a product of hard work, and now it’s paying off. He seems like a pretty humble guy. He’s going to be a good guy in this league, and he’ll be here for a long time.”

N.J. Nets guard Deron Williams

On matching up against Evans:

“He’s a tough player. He’s a combo guard who can do pretty much everything – he’s a good defender, really gets to the basket, is deceptively quick, has good handles and just knows how to play.”

On his impression of Thomas:

“Isaiah (was) in my camp for two years when he was in college, and I definitely like him as a player. I saw the game (against Miami) – he played really well – and I think he’s doing a good job of adjusting to the NBA game.”

Philadelphia 76ers forward Andre Iguodala

On his impression of Cousins:

“I’m a very big fan of DeMarcus. I spoke to him last year after (our) game and told him I was a big fan. I told him to continue to work hard and continue to be dominant, and he’ll have a really successful career.”

On his impression of Thomas:

“Isaiah has done a really good job of coming in and being the underdog and being able to battle for some minutes. He’s one of those guys who always have to fight for something because of his size, and that shows he has heart. “

On his impression of Jimmer Fredette:

“Jimmer is a great shooter. He’s a guy who, on any given night, can come in and beat you.”

Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert

On his impression of Cousins:

“DeMarcus is great. I remember I was going into my senior year of college, and he was about to be a senior in high school, and we were at the Nike Camp – he’s a dominant force. We talk during the games, and I’m very happy for him. I just wish he would stop going for offensive rebounds when I’m guarding him – he’s very hard to guard when he’s going for offensive rebounds.”
