Get an inside look at how Evans and Cousins have devoted important time to strength & conditioning this summer. Plus, view No. 13 and No. 15 in action during the offseason.
In preparation for the 2012-13 campaign, Sacramento’s Tyreke Evans has worked on his all-around game by training at the Kings Practice Facility – at all hours – as well as in various gyms across the country, spending countless days lifting weights and fine-tuning his improved midrange jumpshot.
Earlier this summer, No. 13 wowed the crowd with a spectacular display of ball-handling, spin-moves and rim-rocking finishes at San Francisco Pro-Am League, while also partaking in a streetball game at Dyckman Park in N.Y. Evans has looked quick and explosive in beating defenders off the dribble while getting to the basket, pulling up for jumpers or setting up his teammates for easy looks.
Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins dominated from both inside and out en route to scoring a game-high 42 points on 18-of-24 shooting from the field – to go along with 15 rebounds, five assists and three steals – leading the “White Team” to a 121-93 victory in the University of Kentucky Alumni Charity Basketball Game on Saturday, Sept. 15.
As he geared up for his third NBA season, No. 15 showcased his swift and powerful post moves, and in an ode to his Kings teammate, knocked down several long three-pointers from Jimmer-range.
From summer’s onset, Cousins – who also spent part of his offseason playing with the USA Basketball Select Team – has been a regular at the Kings Practice Facility, working on improving his quickness, agility and footwork.
As he strives to maximize his immense skill-set, a leaner, faster and stronger Cousins is on a mission to earn the first of many All-Star selections in 2012-13.
