On being selected No. 7:

“It was a little bit of a surprise, but at the same time, this Draft was up in the air for us. We didn’t know where everybody was going or where we were potentially going. I was a little bit surprised, but at the same time, Sacramento is taking me in and I’m happy I have the opportunity to be a part of the Sacramento family.”

On coming to Sacramento:

“I think it’s great. It’s a rebuilding program and organization, and I want to be a part of it. I’m happy I got selected and am going to be a part of the Kings. I’m just blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of it. I’m ready to head down there and see everybody, the organization and the fans.”

On Kings Head Coach Michael Malone:

“He’s excited. He said the whole staff got excited when they picked me. I told him I’m excited, I’m ready to join the team and I’m ready to head down there.”

On his relationship with LeBron James:

“We have a good relationship. We talked a lot during the season. He gave me a lot of advice, basically being my mentor. He gave me a lot of advice and I definitely appreciate him for it.”

On making an impact as a rookie:

“I think I could impact (the Kings) a lot – just coming in with the winning mentality, helping my team win more games and helping the organization and go down the line and win a championship.”

On improving his game to compete in the NBA:

“I can work on touching up on my all-around game. I just have to come into the NBA with the mindset of being the alpha dog every night and giving it all I have, because I know each and every night, someone is going to be coming at me. I just have to have the same mindset. (I need to) work on ball-handling a little bit – keeping it tight, keeping it moving and getting from point A to point B.”
