Mock Draft Roundup 2.0

Analysts around the League reveal their latest projections for Sacramento’s seventh-overall pick. Plus, share your Kings outlook on the 2013 Draft.

Following last month’s preliminary mock drafts, many NBA pundits have issued updated predictions, forecasting where top collegiate and international prospects may land in the 2013 Draft, which is set for June 27 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

While several initial projections had Sacramento opting for a talented big man with its No. 7 pick to pair alongside DeMarcus Cousins, many now foresee the Kings nabbing one of the top guard prospects in the Draft or a versatile forward.

Take a look below at key excerpts from several of the latest mock draft breakdowns.

Plus, with prospect workouts and interviews in full swing, stay current with Kings.com’s Offseason Central for complete pre-Draft coverage, as well as the opportunity to vote for your favorite collegiate and international players on the newly-launched Draft Board.

“Zeller would’ve been a top-five pick last year. So he’s slipped a little, and Sacramento should take advantage and play him next to DeMarcus Cousins, which would force Indiana and Kentucky fans to root for the same NBA team.” – Gary Parrish, CBSSports.com

“Point guard, small forward and power forward are all positions the Kings need to address at some stage, and there should be plenty of talented options to choose from here. In the event that Burke somehow slips (to No. 7), the Kings would surely jump on him.” – Jonathan Givony, Yahoo! Sports (via DraftExpress.com)

“Burke actually does make sense for Sacramento. He’s more of a true point guard than anyone currently on the roster, and he’s a winner – something the Kings need.” – Chad Ford, ESPN.com

“Bennett is a 6-7, 239-pound man-child whom some scouts believe will be the best player in the draft. An explosive athlete, he has a credible back-to-the-basket and face-up game and legitimate three-point range (38.3 percent last season). ” – Chris Mannix, SI.com

“It’s fair to question whether Bennett—a power forward in college, at 6-7—can play small forward in the NBA. But he has some shooting and playmaking ability, and the Kings just need to take the best player available.” – Sean Deveney, SportingNews.com

Fan Take

Which prospect do you think would best complement the current Kings roster?

  • delamerica93

I’m not entirely happy with any of these. But I just don’t know. Small Forward? Point Gaurd? Are we not sticking with Isaiah? How about Toney Douglas? Are we wanting to bench Jason Thompson? It seems like a SF is the best option, but who??

  • Jay Sandefur

    The best player available…not Zeller

  • Robert Montes

I choose Cody Zeller and SF position in the FA they have a player veteran!!!!

  • alafred

trade thornton, isaiah, and #7 pick to orlando for jameer and the #2 pick. then we can draft otto porter and sign either Al Jefferson, Josh Smith, Milsap, or Elton Brand. Tadaaaa!!

Spencer Hawes, Joe Klein, Duane Causwell, and………Cody Zeller next! Not for me. Bennett is a good player, in his first year of college, but looks too much like the failed draft pick from last year. I would like to see Michael Carter-Williams. Big PG, could do what they wanted Tyreke to do at first.

  • Jay Cotrone

Whoever is drafted THEY MUST BUST THEIR A&% PLAYING DEFENSE!!!!

  • Jay Cotrone

Finally I think we have a coach that will enforce what I have been saying for years! If they don’t bust their A&% playing defense, bench them, if they spend too much time on the bench, trade them…. That simple It is time for a playoff team, don’t you think?

  • donniedeporte

Menovic….Serbian point guard check bout his energy and play. Maybe I’m just sentimental but he’s got game

  • twsjr

I belive we need a sf badly. We have some other pieces to work with but I would love to see outlaw and salmons go bye bye

  • donniedeporte

New general manager today. Nedovich he can steal slam dish and hit the three I hear jimmer wants to go home to Utah.

I think the best pick would be MCW unless bennett drops too 7 . let salmonds go making 14 mill 2 much for nothing. persue josh smith , if can sign and trade treak do it if not let walk not worth 14 mill. trade jimmer ( love u bro ) but clearly having utah pick better 4 sac. and as far as DMC should be mandotory he goes anger managment ( atm ) hes playing worse then a wnba player emotionly on the ( rag ) but got love his talent. shape up big cuz we need u. so the best thing is 2 picks in the first round i think . deff help

  • hank gathers

and not persue monte ells try brandon jennings if no MCW

  • hank gathers

I really think MCW better then burk reason y his defence and 6-6 he will score but we need a pg that will get everyone else going . front office looking at this then i am glad i posting this.

  • hank gathers

MCW could be better then westbrook where u pass first not all offence minded

  • hank gathers

a player worthing getting if can pull it off is Giannis Antetokounmbo not at 7 but if u can get him from a trade hes awsome young but could be valuable in the future . comparisons pippen and durant

  • hank gathers

OK lets break this down DMC making noise :( now i say trade him 4 first pick alex len this a option only a option, the thing DMC is forcing is 4 us 2 replace him when we need him wake up u will make money but this not the way not make sac waste a pick 2 add a player 2 replace u. DMC needs anger manangment this should be put in his contract ( talking 2 u dmc its a team and front office is the hand that feeds u ) come on now . Simply grow up you will make money but not by demands. look we will get ppl fast now i assume i predict MCW and another first round pick its possible we walk away with bennet best way the draft goes but MCW looks more possible. front office talking 2 u, We need2 get more first round picks, dallas or utah come 2 mind. Not sure if anyone looking at this but i can help i know basketball . T reak srry but you should be gone max contract 4 u at this point would be 15 mill. and simply u not worth it . look john salmonds hes making 14 mill a year and i would cut him asap and i know they will i perdict. future is brite

perdict first pick alex len hes better then noel, noel may never be the same second opperation same knee. sacramento,s best case is getting more first round draft picks if can manage 2 get 3 first round picks then we get help as far as free agents josh smith if we get potential in the draft it could attract him here .
